Kistler Pinot Noir
Awarded the Silver Medal from The Texsom International Wine Awards in 2020, Kistler owns or leases just under 60 acres of prime Pinot Noir vineyards in some of the coolest sites of western Sonoma County. Each vineyard is planted with proprietary heritage clones and is marked by extremely low yields usually producing about two tons per acre. Some vineyard sites are on the classic Goldridge sandy soil and others are on a more iron rich clay loam. This soil diversity combined with cool coastal influences allow for a complex array of flavor profiles available to craft Kistler's two appellation focused bottlings. The Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is from vineyard sites that are cooler resulting in darker wine with more concentration and structure than its Russian River counterpart. Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is often augmented with small lots from the Silver Belt and Kistler Vineyards.
